Season
Two
The Word, the Law, and the Gospel.
In Season Two as you dive deep into the doctrines of the Word of God, the Gospel of God, and the Law of God (see syllabus), you will read from Reformed Systematic Theology (Vol. 1) by Beeke and Smalley, A Body of Divinity by Thomas Watson, A Complete Body of Divinity (Vol. 2) by Thomas Boston, God’s Law Made Easy by Kenneth Gentry, as well as Reformed Preaching by Joel Beeke.
In addition to the weekly reading assignments, you will be taught from the Scriptures in an expository manner as well as from the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. Each week both the expository sermon as well as the confessional teaching will focus primarily on the doctrine that has just been covered in book 1 of the reading assignment.
Finally you will be trained to rightly divide the word of truth as you write essays and expositions of Scripture concerning the Word and the Gospel (essays and exposition are for the certificate path only).
